Why is CBD chocolate so damn good?! Well it’s a combination of two of my favourite things – chocolate and CBD. In this post, I will be writing my ode to CBD chocolate listing out why I like it so much and which brand I think has the best CBD chocolate in the UK. So here goes.
It’s hard not to be aware of all the magical health benefits associated with taking CBD. It appears to be the talk of the town at the moment. So many magazines and people are discussing the wonders of taking CBD – CBD to help with their sleep, CBD to get rid of their aches and pains, CBD to help reduce their anxiety – it all sounds a bit too good to be true. But, it is! CBD or cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis plants and is believed to enhance the ability for our cannabinoids to bind with our cannabinoid receptors in our nervous system. The body produces endocannabinoids (this is a process that happens daily without the presence of cannabis) which are neurotransmitters that interact with our cannabinoid system. All these components are what makes up our endocannabinoid system which is the system that regulates our body’s internal environment and impacts several major processes, including appetite, sleep, mood, and memory. As such, if CBD enhances the endocannabinoid receptor activity then it also positively impacts many of these major processes. The internal process it works best for will be totally dependent on you. For some people it’s pain, whereas for me it’s sleep! You have to try to see.
- It doesn’t make you high and it’s legal
I was very worried about this when I first heard about CBD given that it is related to cannabis. However, in the UK, all cannabis products are derived from hemp not marijuana (the two main offspring of the cannabis plant) and so are CBD dominant. THC, the psychoactive compound that is responsible for making you feel “high,” is illegal in any amount more than 0.2% and comes in much higher concentrations in marijuana plants which, again, are not used in the UK. This means, the CBD products you will be choosing from do not make you high and are totally legal.
CBD does have a hempy bitter taste to it which I don’t like. This means I avoid taking CBD in its most natural form – via CBD oil drops. I also am not a vapor so that was never an option. But, I wanted to benefit from all of the CBD magic I had read about. This led me to CBD edibles, specifically CBD chocolate. I love chocolate plus there is already some goodness in chocolate (I like to think), especially dark chocolate so it seemed like the best, most healthy combo for me. Until fairly recently, though, CBD chocolate in the UK, has been a bit budget and sub par. Many still taste quite hempy and dry – CBD first, chocolate second. However, as popularity has grown for CBD, brands are becoming more focused on taste so that we keep coming back for more. The most delicious CBD chocolate I found in the UK, is Paso’s dark chocolate. It tastes like chocolate first and foremost, but with the added benefit of having CBD in it.
- Perfect addition to your bedtime routine!
CBD chocolate has become the perfect companion for my bedtimes. I have since switched out my regular bite of chocolate after my dinner for my CBD chocolate. So I have a row or two as I watch some tv, have a bath, clamber into bed and, voilà, off to sleep I go!
